OUR CONTRIBUTION
Sustainable Development Goals
Futebol dá força works within football in order to contribute to a gender equal and inclusive development in society in general. Our work is aligned with and aims at contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Our contribution to the SDGs
Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages
Sport and physical activity contributes to numerous health benefits for both physical and mental wellbeing. Today, physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality, with girls being less physically active than their male peers. Engaging girls in sports at an early age and increasing girls opportunities to participate in sports is therefore crucial to mitigate the global health risks related to physical inactivity. Physically active parents can also influence their children's physical activity to a great extent, further highlighting the importance of engaging girls in physical activity in order to change perceptions and attitudes around physical activity in the long term. Participation in sports also contributes to the healthy development of children's and adolescents' social and cognitive development.

Physical activity also has a positive impact on mental well-being, an impact leveraged by leaders within Futebol dá força that are trained to create safe spaces where they actively promote girls' mental well-being. Additionally, leaders are also trained to facilitate conversation regarding sexual and reproductive health and rights, improving girls' knowledge and know-how to make informed decisions in the interest of their own health and well-being.
Goal 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all
Leaders within Futebol dá força focus on increasing engagement in learning and improving girls' attendance and retention in schools, along with providing additional educational opportunities during training sessions. By providing such learning experiences through football, out of school girls can be reached.
Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
This is Futebol dá força's vision and overall goal, being addressed by FDF's work both within the arena of sports and football in particular, as in society in general. Acknowledging that football is the most played sport all over the world, engaging millions of people and providing a universal language to address other issues of relevance not only in football but also for society at large; FDF's work breaks down barriers to gender equality in football, while also using football as a platform to promote gender equality in the local communities where we work. FDF's activities focus on enabling the football field to serve as a safe space for girls to be empowered. FDF's activities not only provide a safe space to raise issues such as gender equality, and sexual and reproductive health and rights, but also provides a space for promoting female leadership, peer leaders and role models, by developing girls' capacity, knowledge and tools to influence their lives and positive change in their communities.
Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities
Throughout FDF from our activities, to our support structure, we are guided by our values which state the importance of everyone's equal value, rights & potential. We believe in everyone's equal value, rights and potential. Everyone has equal value and rights and should have the same opportunities to access their full potential. Everyone can do great things if they are aware of their potential and also have the possibility to explore it. Therefore, our work is guided in reducing the inequalities and the norms that support them that has lead to unequal opportunities for all ages, sex, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religion or economic status
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Within FDF's trainings and facilitated discussions, we aim to decrease and eliminate forms of violence against children (physical and/or psychological). By helping encourage and support victims and witnesses in reporting violence to authorities, and/or other
officially recognized conflict resolution mechanisms, we tackle the norms around violence and help guide our facilitators and leaders in valuing the importance of eliminating all forms of violence, no matter how small it might be.
Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development
FDF's support structure and community engagement focuses on areas of Goal 17 by strengthening partnerships with local, regional, and national stakeholders to align and work together towards our common SDG goals and targets. Our facilitators and leaders work with local partners in civil society to build on experiences and strategies to better improve the life and well being of girls. FDF works with various multi-stakeholders to mobilize and share knowledge, expertise and resources to support the achievement of the SDGs of focus.
Enabling leaders to lead change
We contribute to the SDGs by enabling leaders to empower girls and change social norms in their local communities around the world.
